Bad instructions, confusing interface, but a reliable grounded timer,
 Â
 Â
You can’t really see it in the picture or the product description, but there are two outlets on this timer. You can, for example, plug in both the grow light and the heat mat in your seed starting set-up. They’re linked, though, so you can’t have them turn on and off at different times.
The instructions, in all their 6-point-font glory, do little to illuminate a rather poorly designed interface. Figuring out how to do a very simple program took a long, long time. However, since one of the things plugged into my timer is a light, i know that it works perfectly if you set it up properly.
This timer allows a staggering combination of schedules. You can have up to eight different programs, which can each be on any or all days of the week. (I haven’t yet tested what happens if schedules conflict. For example, you have one program that says to turn the light on at 8am on monday and off at 2pm, but another that says to turn the light on at 9am every day and off at noon, what happens on monday?)

Good, easy to use timer.,
Although these timers are designed as timers for hydroponics they are very good for any type of timer function. They are relatively easy to program, have a backup battery (internal-rechargeable) to keep the timer “on time” in the event of a power failure, and have a higher amp rating than most off the shelf timers I’ve used.
I use it to start and stop a (small) electric motor, it works like a charm.
The instructions that came with the timer are printed in *very* small text. If you google the timer name and model you can download the PDF manual which is much easier to read.
I’ve had no problems whatsoever… Buy this if you need a reliable timer for anything.
