Tip 1 – Arrange an area in your home where you can have your only place that items can be put which can be recycled. A space in the garage or your garden shed would be suitable or if you have a utility room attached to your home then this would be best. The best things to use for storing any items in for recycling would be plastic bins but boxes or baskets work just as well. Provide a bin into which glass can go and another for paper etc.
Tip 2 – If at all in doubt about something you have found then it is best to get rid of it. Anything that you don’t really have a use for then see if a friend can utilize it or even give it to a local charity. They can then sell it on to someone else.
Tip 3 – When it comes to your mail make sure that as soon as it arrives you open it. This is especially important when it comes to bills as you want to make sure that these are paid on time. Arrange to put any items that need your specific attention in a place where you can deal with them later on. As for junk mail and catalogs glance over them quickly and keep those that interest you but the rest should immediately go into the recycling containers you have set up already.
Tip 4 – When it comes to your clothes then discard or use those items that you have not worn during the last 6 to 9 months. As you look at each item of clothing in order to reduce clutter take into account not only does the item still fit you and does it suit you but also whether it is in fashion at present. When it comes to your children’s clothes immediately discard any that they have outgrown. Again if anything you are thinking of getting rid of is in good condition then take it to your local charity store or homeless shelter.
