homegardenadvicesIf you’re looking for plants that are pretty and yet provide beauty benefits, look no further than the list below.

Aloe Vera – Aloe vera contains antioxidants that can sooth skin and is great as a natural after-sun product. For those of you that suffer from acne, aloe vera can be used to clear and sooth your skin. For sensitive skin, aloe vera can be used as a mild cleanser or a makeup remover. The plant also needs less watering, therefore is relatively low maintenance.

Elderflower – Elderflower is used as a skin ointment and is great to reduce the appearance of scars. The plant is best as an oil and also has many anti aging properties.

Green Tea (camellia sinensis) – Green tea is great to alleviate a common cold. But the plant also has many beauty benefits, like reducing dandruff and hair loss. To use green tea as a hair wash, boil green tea as you would for drinking and let it cool. After shampooing, rinse your hair with it in the shower.

Witch hazel – This plant is great to reduce acne. Most acne products can be harsh on your skin, but witch hazel works to reduce acne, while soothing your skin at the same time. Use the plant as a skin toner by mixing lemon juice with witch hazel extract and water.

Lemon Balm (Melissa Officinalis) – This plant will not only make your garden smell good but it will help heal your skin after an insect bite.
