Luxury Waterside Homes In Uxbridge Launched By Weston Homes
Article by Keith Osborne
Weston Homes, acclaimed housebuilder, is launching a brand new development of townhouses and apartments in Uxbridge, west London, boasting a superb location between the River Colne and Grand Union Canal. The King’s Island scheme is being unveiled to the public this weekend following a ceremonial launch on 2nd March 2011 overseen by the company’s founder and chairman, Bob Weston, and Sharron Davies.
The private gated development is built on the site of the William King Flour Mill, with views over the waters of the river and canal. The Victorian mill building is set to be refurbished and converted to apartments. Two new apartment blocks will also be created. In all, the finished scheme will comprise 127 one- and two-bedroom apartments and 24 new and converted three- and four-bedroom townhouses. Prices range from £180,995 to over £700,000.
Bob Weston says: “There is a continuing demand for family homes in the UK. King’s Island provides a perfect setting for families, which include some of the finest luxury finishes available on the market today. The new-build apartments offer a blend of modern architecture and sympathetic renovation and a level of comfort and style that will last long into the future and are ideal for couples or downsizers.”
Currently reigning as What House? Housebuilder of the Year, Weston Homes is renowned for the high level of standard specification in all its new homes. The show home at King’s Island reveals that, if anything, the company has upped the ante for its latest development and it is unlikely that buyers will find a property on a new development in the area that matches the quality with the value for money offered at King’s Island.
The impressive specification of the four-bedroom show home includes: en-suite wet-rooms to the two main bedrooms; ceramic stone floors and underfloor heating feature on the ground floor; a high-quality kitchen fully equipped with fitted, name-brand appliances and with a separate utility room; an delightful large deck overlooking the weir, accessible by space-saving concertina doors from the kitchen and living room; and a secluded roof deck and study sharing the top floor with the master bedroom suite, complete with its wet-room and dressing area.
The new apartments will have a balcony or terrace accessible from the open-plan kitchen/dining room and all of the two-bedroom designs benefit from an en-suite to the master bedroom in addition to the main bathroom. Allocated parking is also provided.
Residents have the peace of mind of a gated community, with a manned entrance from 7am to 11pm, after which the gates are secured. Along with the private gardens of the townhouses, the development has some communal garden space and there is access via a footbridge across the canal to a nature reserve maintained for the exclusive use of residents and local schoolchildren.
Uxbridge is in a great strategic position for transport: around an hour from central London on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly tube lines, about a ten-minute walk from King’s Island; with a bus terminal adjacent to the tube station offering numerous local routes; close to A40, M25 and M40 for routes into, out of and around London; and five miles from Heathrow.
There’s a busy high street shopping area providing a wide range of everyday stores and amenities and some excellent private and independent schools in the area. The Borough of Hillingdon has some excellent arts and sports facilities too.
With relatively few new homes developments in Uxbridge on the market, interest in this scheme is expected to be high. As well as local residents, the company is targeting overseas and expat investors searching for new homes in London’s suburbs which can provide them with steady tenancy and good returns. This weekend the company is exhibiting the development at a show in Hong Kong.
